Oil Sands

Long life low decline production

Canadian Natural owns and operates significant long life low decline world class oil sands assets. As the basis for the Company’s substantial free cash flow generation, Canadian Natural remains focused on maximizing value through continuous improvement and adoption of technology to deliver safe, steady, reliable oil sands production.

Value growth potential

An integral part of our long life low decline assets, thermal in situ production incorporates Cyclic Steam Stimulation (CSS), steam flood and Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) to recover bitumen from the Athabasca and Cold Lake regions. These world class assets are amenable to technology investments, such as solvents, which have the potential to increase production and environmental performance.

Massive resource with decades of production

Canadian Natural’s zero decline Oil Sands Mining and Upgrading assets form the basis of the Company’s portfolio of long life low decline production. These assets include surface oil sands mines and bitumen extraction plants, complemented by on site bitumen upgrading, ultimately producing high quality synthetic crude oil (SCO).
