Stewardship Report to Stakeholders
Canadian Natural has been producing our sustainability report, the Stewardship Report to Stakeholders, since 2004. This report provides a performance overview across the full range of Canadian Natural’s operations in Western Canada, the UK portion of the North Sea, and Offshore Africa for each calendar year, in context with prior period performance trends and goals for future performance.
This report is developed through the following:
- Prioritizing reporting topics – Our team of experts and leaders in key reporting areas regularly assess and prioritize topics determined material through an internal assessment process where disclosures are rated for relevancy to our external stakeholders and relevance to our business. Information from ongoing stakeholder dialogues and industry benchmarking also helps us identify and prioritize relevant topics.
- Working with the business – We compile a number of examples of how our performance commitment is put into action to connect our performance data and results to our programs. Our approach is collaborative, drawing on experiences and expertise across the business.
- Aligning with reporting frameworks – Our external reporting integrates financial and sustainability metrics to align with recommendations from the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). We report climate related financial risks that may have a potential impact on the environment and communities (such as GHG emissions management risks), as well as material sustainability factors that may impact financial performance (including stakeholder engagement processes, practices with respect to community and Indigenous rights, business ethics, and workforce health and safety).
