MOU Advances Key Priorities

Canadian Natural and the four other members of the Oil Sands Alliance—Cenovus, ConocoPhillips Canada, Imperial and Suncor—have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the federal and provincial governments, which establishes the conditions necessary for enhancing industry competitiveness in support of production growth and advancement of the Pathways CCS Project. This follows Alberta’s recent announcement that it has submitted an application to the Major Projects Office for a proposed West Coast Oil Pipeline.

We believe the MOU and proposed West Coast Oil Pipeline represent meaningful progress on advancing industry’s three key priorities – Production, Pipelines and Pathways – and will help strengthen the long-term competitiveness, resilience and sustainability of our industry.

There is still work ahead to turn these projects into reality, but this is an important step. We are encouraged by the progress industry has made in working with governments and remain confident that by continuing to work together we will help advance these critical priorities.
